Friday May 9th, 2014 – Oahu, United States of America
Two flights, two Koru lounges and a total of 16 hours’ travel time, and we are finally here. I have to say, Happy was right to warn me not to judge Hawaii on their airport – it’s certainly nothing flash and it did take quite some time to get through immigration, but ALOHA, we are here!
The Sheraton is a standard 4 star Starwood property – not amazing, but a decent sized room and a great view over the pool and coast of Waikiki’s beachfront. Included in out daily resort fee was two free cocktails at the very highly rated Rum Fire bar. However, as it is late on a Friday night, and us grandmas and grandpas have been up since 4am NZ time, we opted for a quieter option to go for a cocktail, small bite to eat (Pear and Gorgonzola pizza – yum!) while planning what to do during our first day. It was our first time figuring out how to tip, so hopefully it was appropriate (considering Lachlan’s massive meatball was cold in the middle). Well, sleep time now.. meeting Sara and Lochie at 8am (6.5 hours away) to find somewhere cute for brekkie.
Until tomorrow night xxx
